A little more digging got me this caption:
When spring rolled around in 1996, there were great expectations for the Chatham Glenwood High School baseball team, and coach Pat Moomey’s team lived up to all of them. …
And the guy who held everything together was catcher Jayson Werth, a future first-round draft choice. Werth was as good a defensive catcher as Central Illinois had ever seen, and during one eight-game stretch of the season he batted .724 with five home runs and 14 runs batted in. He wound up hitting .463 with five home runs, 36 runs batted in and 22 stolen bases.
